A degree-distance-based connections model with negative and positive externalities
نویسندگان
چکیده
We develop a modification of the connections model by Jackson and Wolinsky (1996) that takes into account negative externalities arising from the connectivity of direct and indirect neighbors. Our model combines then different aspects of the connections model and the co-author model and can be seen as a degree and distance-based model with both negative and positive externalities. Consider a situation in which people are involved in projects and generate some kind of knowledge by themselves, and receive some from others. If an agent is involved in many projects, he will have less time to generate output by himself. On the other hand, the more connections he has, the more knowledge he will receive from others which he can then forward to his neighbors. We analyze pairwise stability and efficiency in this modification of the Jackson and Wolinsky model in order to understand how the negative externalities modify the results of the original connections model. We develop a modification of the connections model by Jackson and Wolinsky (1996) that takes into account negative externalities arising from the connectivity of direct and indirect neighbors, thus combining aspects of the connections model and the co-author model. We consider a general functional form for agents’ utility that incorporates both the effects of distance and of neighbors’ degree. ...

The issue of protecting the environment and preventing environmental pollution is one of the priorities of Iran’s economic and social development plans. The purpose of this paper is to analyze changes in the environmental effects of electricity generation, as electricity production patterns change, on production and welfare of households in Iran by using the social accounting matrix of 2011 ...
متن کاملAnalysis of Electricity Generation’s Externalities on Sectorial Output Growth and Welfare in Iran
Environmental problems are one of the most challenging issues for the entire world and each country. In economic studies, environmental issues are analyzed as negative externalities. In this article, the negative externalities of electricity production on the output growth of different sectors and household’s welfare in Iran’s economy have been studied through price system using Computable Gene...
متن کاملA Multi-Criteria Analysis Model under an Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Environment with an Application to Production Project Decision Problems
Using Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) to solve complicated decisions often includes uncertainty, which could be tackled by utilizing the fuzzy sets theory. Type-2 fuzzy sets consider more uncertainty than type-1 fuzzy sets. These fuzzy sets provide more degrees of freedom to illustrate the uncertainty and fuzziness in real-world production projects. In this paper, a new multi-criteria ana...
